Coordinator: Who we are!

The Coordination Committee of Thassos is composed of representatives of the individual villages of Thassos and was born out of the need to express the unanimous and unanimous opposition of the inhabitants to the uninvited nightmare that is challenging the course of our island towards the future.

Together with the Municipality of Thassos, united in a common goal, we serve the non-negotiable mission of the society of our island and the wider region to prevent the transformation of our blessed land into a den of foreign industrial waste.

We fight with tireless vigor to not be condemned to OWN living on a ticking time bomb, in a state of fear and uncertainty.

We are convinced that this waste disposal project, which is being carried out in our backyard without anyone asking us, fatally threatens our security, tourism, the primary sector, our seas and our unique natural environment.

We defend our non-negotiable right to enjoy life for ourselves and our children in an uncontaminated and safe environment in the place where we were born.

Dear friends

We invite you to share our anguish and to join your voice with our voice so that it becomes a loud, sky-high cry, to be heard as far away as possible, to reach as many recipients as possible.

Let our voice reach our region, Athens and Brussels to protect the “Emerald of the Aegean” from the “plunder” of modern pirates and allow it to sail into the future with the wealth of its passengers and its dowry intact.

May all those who decide without us learn that their “dirty” investment will fail because of the unwavering conviction of the Thassite people who resolutely proclaim:

“In this sea, no evil rust can prosper!”

Resolution

AGAINST CO2 INJECTION INTO THE SUBSOIL OF THASSOS

The organizations of Thassos signing this petition declare our unreserved opposition to the attempt to bury industrial fumes in the depleted oil wells of Prinos.

We are convinced that this project, unexpectedly dropped in our laps, poses a deadly threat to our security, tourism, the primary sector, our seas and our unique natural environment.

We are joining forces in a united front to ensure that our island is not turned into a landfill of industrial waste that does not belong to us.

We defend our inalienable right to enjoy life for ourselves and our children in an uncontaminated and safe environment, in the place where we were born.

We fight together, with inexhaustible strength, so that we are not forced to live eternities on a slow-burning bomb, in a state of fear and insecurity for centuries.

Our message is clear, unanimous, loud and clear for all to hear:

Our gifted island, its people and its productive footprint are not destined for collateral damage, nor will they be sacrificed on the altar of foreign or domestic economic interests.
